So... as summer starts to turn into fall... my thoughts are turning to the TTI that I was fortunate enough to get into this year! I am very excited to experience what I've heard about for so many years!

Question for the group, I am getting in on Thursday early and want to get a round in since I have some green fee credit at Troon North. Anyone else getting in early and want to connect for a round?

Also, for those veterans of the TTI, what should I bring, not bring, etc?

So this is your first TTI...welcome and get ready for some fun!. First and foremost, check the weather a week before which is important for what you need to pack. It's too early now to predict but weather in the southwest can go from awesome to not so awesome in late fall. At the same time, there's a reason many flock to the desert during that time of the year.

As for golf related items, there's usually at least a dozen balls distributed during your check in; if you need more, you can always buy them at the pro shop. Other than that, bring what you would normally bring to a golf outing. Personally, I like to bring at least a couple of my Titleist hats making sure they match the outfits I'm bringing to the trip.

Be prepared to meet great people and hopefully you enjoy surprises because there tends to be more than few during the invitational. We should all have our lanyards and I'll look out for you and say, "Hello."
  3. Welcome to your first TTI!

I get in Thursday afternoon so I may not be able to play...however let me know if you want to meet up at or near the hotel for dinner.

As far as what to bring....an open attitude to meeting new people, desert golf means you may go through a few more golf balls than normal so bring a few extra, sun protection such as hats etc.., and your Titleist stuff!!

    Cheers, See you in November!!

I am supposed to land around 10am. I too was planning on getting in a round before checking in. A round at Troon North would be awesome if you still have room. I figure a 1pm tee time?

Guy - that might work well... I haven't set a tee time yet. Right now it's you and me... so room for two more.

The 1pm was just a generalization. Figure we will need around 4 hours and the sun sets between 5 and 6pm. I see a couple more are looking to join. Looks like it will be a good time. Also, this will be my third. I have told people that eventually you will start to see it as a reunion with a golf trip thrown in. It seems every year I start to remember more faces and actually remember their names too. 3 1/2 months to go.

Let me know the best way to get in touch with you as we get closer and the plan starts coming together. I am also in the Facebook group if that makes things any easier. Hoping we can make this work and get a round in.

Sounds like a fun day before the big day. Unfortunately my Delta from Atlanta does not get in until 2:26pm. Looking forward to another great event with some really great guys. "Maybe" Dale can give us an update regarding the weather a couple of days prior to our departures regarding apparel items to pack. I most likely will pack shorts and pants for play dates, with a couple of FJ vests just in case. And pull overs for the evenings. Understand from another friend who lives there it gets down in the 50s at night. Hakuna matata.

    Ron;

Look forward to seeing you again. I will be driving in from SoCal, Thursday morning and am looking to play as well. Not sure where I will play yet, working on a few things but let's connect, I think you still have my email from the TT event at Tijeras Creek. To my fellow TT members who want to play Thursday before, let's talk as well.

Expect cool mornings where a mid-layer will be good. Generally, the temp is in the 70's during the day but will cool off at night. Of course, mother nature can also surprise us.

As Chris said, have an open attitude about meeting new people. It's not like any other golf trip you will take. It's one that you will circle on your calendar every year.

    See you soon,

    Tyler

Ron - same here, first TTI and getting more excited the closer we get.

I'm planning to get in early Thursday (maybe driving from SoCal to have room for more TT stuff) and up for a round that day if there is space.

    James -

Right now sounds like several will be there and we'll find a place to play... what is your email so I can make sure you're looped in.

Was looking at different courses in Scottsdale today and noticed that tee times for November 30th are starting to fill up. Is there still a plan to get a round in? I've never been to Scottsdale to play golf before this so I'm just curious.

Yes, I do still plan to get a round in... I'll send around an email to those who have expressed interest and see what we can pull together.

Hello Guy, many of the daily fee courses (public and semi-private) have 60-day windows before tee times can be made which could explain the sudden flood of golfers making tee times in late November. If you are interested in playing golf on the bookend days of TTI, I would secure a tee time now and most will allow for cancelations (verify this before making the tee time). There are plenty of decent courses in the area but if you want to book something at a "must play" venue, those will be tougher to get. Good luck and see you at Scottsdale. Safe travels!

Just glad to be able to get there. My physical therapist is TPI certified and got back my evaluation, guess that is what you call it. Some areas were very positive. We have a plan to help my back medically and get me ready for the big day. The injection has helped but the exercises are achy breaking my body. Getting a little whistle when I swing my irons and can see some improvement in my swing. One day at a time.

Are you sure that little whistle isn't the chili you have for dinner the night before? Stay well and see you the end of next month!

You guys. Might even try my fitter next week. Miracles do happen. Chili, more like a fog horn. =)

It's difficult to avoid all the news happening in the world right now but it's nice to know I can come here for a smile. You all are hilarious.
