I was able to achieve my goal, I shot 79 today finally breaking 80!!!

Time for a new goal... maybe 75 or even par for 9 holes... what should it be?

Congrats Ron, thats what its all about! I have never really had much success with milestone numbers. Theres so many variable out there, I always tired to four on consistency. Maybe you try to shoot 10 rounds under your number, or 3 in a row, something like that!

I set a goal for myself yesterday and that was to shoot 45 on the front. Made it and shot 44. With all my medical issues and therapy, I was very pleased. But it did not carry over on the back. So, I agree, consistency would be my real goal. Those triple bodie monsters are my biggest obstacle and running out of energy. PT is helping. CONGRATULATIONS on your great round. Keep up the the good work. =)

Congrats!! Be proud of the accomplishment.
Like Eric said, now try to consistently shoot in the 70's... no matter where you play. Along with that will be opportunities to go for 75... or lower.
I've found putting makes all the difference.
    Enjoy!

Instead of setting a finishing score goal, try to hit every fairway and every green, or as many as you can and see what happens at the end of the day. Don’t total your scorecard until you finish the round. Good luck!

Could not agree more on; "Don’t total your scorecard until you finish the round". Gets me all the time on hole 17, if you only do it in your head. The scorecard monster as I call it. Good call Dale. =) =) =) =) =)
  7. Just shot my lowest round in a couple of years, 78. Dropped my index down to 8.4 from 10 this year and very happy, as are my Sunday pals who will all be getting another shot or two.

As the season is almost over here, next year's goal is dropping my index lower by having a better mental game.

Congrats on bringing down your hdcp. As your hdcp drops further, your margin for errors during your round gets dramatically smaller if you want to maintain the lower hdcp. After every round, my goal is to not forget the bad shots but to learn from them. I do believe a better mental game will make you a better golfer. Good luck next year.

For me, setting a long term (season goal) like breaking a certain number is great. But I’ve started to breakdown my long term goal into certain aspects, and if I can bring together all my smaller goals, it always give me an incredible chance to break my long term goal. Such as when I shot a 73 (one and only time) I focused on a certain amount of GIR’s, FIR’s, and not losing a ball. Even if I don’t hit my long term goal, but managed to hit my smaller goals, it gives me energy that I can do it and where to focus.

Not losing any more balls would be an incredible goal to meet for me as well, I've been burning through balls lately, hurting my wallet!!!

Fantastic work Ron! Nothing like breaking 80 for the first time. My goal this year will be to have zero rounds above 79 and hopefully at least one round in the 60s. Keep it up!

Congratulations! To me, there are 2 ultimate golfing milestones, breaking 80 and 70. Good Luck! On to the next one!

You know how the golf gods work, so maybe shoot below 80 3 times in a row. Just my 2 cents.
