The course I frequent does a good job with the leaves that exfoliate from the trees this time of year. The majority of trees are large old oak trees, and their leaves are not large. The bigger issue we have this time of year is the density of the rough. Our rough likes the cooler weather and it shows.

For the past couple of years I’ve been bringing out my Stihl electric leaf blower! Very quiet and starters usually love I’m doing some of their work for them! Useful for finding balls off the fairway, but equally good for clearing leaves, twigs, etc., on the greens…

Wireless leaf blowers attached to all golf carts. No longer a problem for me now living in The Phoenix area.

Yes the only downside of Fall Golf. We have had an amazing Fall. Still Sunny and in the 50s. Supposed to hit 60 tomorrow and Thursday. Almost nice to have winter weather 1 month less

Ironically, here in Florida our 'Season' is getting ready to start. Prices go up, availability goes down with all the northerners who come down. For us who live here full time it's just a time we wear pants to play.

Our season is May thru September, in Charleston, SC. Glad that I play in a group that has guaranteed tee times on Mon/Wed/Friday. Have a few mainly from Ohio that come to visit families. In the off season. We kid them about Sherman and his guys never leaving this area.

Most of the leaves are not in the fairways. Or maybe it seems that way to me. Our guys do a darn good job of keeping them blown off the rough areas as well. We have a lot of Pine and Live Oaks on our course. =)

Fall golf is a fickle mistress. I love wearing a 1/4 zip or a sweater and playing with a bit of a chill in the air but those leaves… oh man the leaves!!! Two years ago we brought a Milwaukee leaf blower out with us- was really handy for the greens and a few wayward shots!

Fairways are always clear… you sound like a cally guy.

My course here on the Island do a good job this time of year. The grounds crew have huge blowers that move leaves then they have what I call a “leaf Zamboni” suck ‘em up and keeps fairways and rough fairly clear!

Ive learned over the years that you just gotta treat these as bonus days and be willing to accept that you will likely not find perfectly fine hit shots. If i dont find it relatively quickly, drop 1 and move on and enjoy the walk!

Sounds like break out the cheap balls season to me.

But being in SoCal, i dont have any of these problems.

This time of year has advantages and disadvantages. Leaves are a disadvantage, but frozen ponds are an advantage so it all works out in the end.

Crazy time of year. You want to keep playing but at times the frustration of looking for balls on every hole gets crazy. Sometimes even in the fairway of just off the green

In my area the better courses seem to have more Evergreen trees and avoid that issue. My home course is mixed and the greens are usually covered with small leaves. Drives me crazy!

Fall golf is definitely a mixed blessing. One one hand, there's the joy of playing in a hoodie and being extremely comfortable. On the other hand is the very likely prospect of donating a few sleeves of your favorite balls to the leaves, but I usually find quite a few to take home to the Jonny T Performance Range (aka the empty field behind my house). There's a local college that uses my home course, so I have quite the supply of Mt. Mercy Mustang branded ProV1x's that gets bigger when the thick stuff gets mowed down! We've got 4" of the white stuff on the ground now, so my season is officially over. I was able to get in 9+ on the final day last week though and finished the season with a 12' putt with about 2' of right to left for par, so I can't wait to pick back up in March / April. Long story short, fall golf is a mixed bag and I miss it already!

Not too bad in the fairways. If you spray the ball left or right that's on us as punishment for a bad shot. The thing that bugs me is when the greens have leaves in the path of putts. I don't think I could carry a blower with me but might not be a bad idea.

Too funny because it's true. Our fairways are very well manicured but this time of year they're a bit more hesitant on the rough. Last weekend I hit a ball maybe 5' off the fairway and literally could not find it due to live oak leaves. Cart partner and I spent the 3 allotted minutes searching then took the penalty. Ahhh well. HCI usually goes up in the cooler months and this is one aspect of it.

Those yellow, orange and red balls blend in well with the fall leaves. Why I play white, if they happen to go in the leafy area. Easier to find. Always play new Prov1s. Supposed to be in the high 30's tomorrow morning here in the Charleston area. Can you believe that? Like an artic freeze for us. Normally last a day or two and goes away. Bringing out either the FJ Tech or Performance Lined Sweater. BRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr =(

Hate frost delays

I would have to say Daylight is the biggest con of fall golf for me. I love getting off work and getting a full 18 in. When it's fall I barely get 9. Counting down the days until spring!

Those leaves have gotten me a few times so far this fall. Now we are getting the delays for frost. I need to move south. Haha.

Played a couple of weeks ago and ran into the same thing. All the leaves were blown to the right size of most fairways just into the rough. Naturally that is my miss with a driver, so after the first lost ball that found one of the large piles of leaves it was just long irons off the tee the rest of the day to keep it in the fairway.
