  1. I'm looking for new courses to try in the southeast. What are your favorites?

Sea Island G.C in St. Simons Island is 5 star.  Also check out Hilton National and Harbour Town in Hilton Head Island SC

if Southeast includes Florida, check out Streamsong.  2 courses that are outstanding in the middle of the state.  Also. TPC Sawgrass is fun to play

May River Golf Club in Bluffton, SC.  The course is located within the Palmetto Bluff community, is a Jack Nicklaus design and receives very little play.  I would highly recommend the Inn at Palmetto Bluff as well, a vacation destination you'll never forget.

You are spot on about May River Golf Club. I played there in the spring of 2014 and I think there were maybe 2 other groups on the course besides our 4-some that day. Great golf course that is in immaculate condition. The course itself gives the feeling that it has been there for years. I would definitely recommend it if you are in the Hilton Head area.

RTJ Trail in Alabama is a little easier on the wallet and the sites are pretty consistent with upkeep. Mobile and Montgomery have courses used by the LPGA. Most sites have 2 18 hole choices and a 9 hole par 3 option. Ross Bridge, Montgomery, and Auburn are my favorite sites, but I haven't played the Mobile area sites. They aren't on my bucket list along side Bandon Dunes, but when I'm in the area...why not?
