    Hey TT,

    I am traveling down to Denver for a long weekend in which I'll be playing golf each day. 

    I was planning to bring my laser range finder, but I've heard that they are easily stolen and/or damaged. Is it legal to bring it in my carry on, and if so what precautions do I need to take? I am assuming taking the battery out is sufficient. 

    As well, does anyone know the distance conversion between lower Michigan and Denver? I've heard that you add 10% to find the new distance but I don't know if that's entirely true. (i.e. if my I hit 8 iron 175 yards in Michigan, I should expect it to fly 192.5 in Denver (+17.5 yds). 

    If anyone knows it would really help me.

    Hello... I've been a Denver resident for the better part of 14 years now but use to play quite a few rounds in Michigan. Go Green! Like most things in golf and life there's no magic number. 10% is a good start. I've found going back to sea level to visit family and friends that being a high trajectory high spin player is an even bigger benefit in the thin air at a mile high. If you are the same (my driver goes at 3300RPMs) I'd suggest thinking 15% on the high end of your bag and working down towards a 10% gain on your full wedges. Brian

    Thank you for the advice, but I have to say I like maize and blue a little bit better! Returning from Denver this past weekend, your calculations helped me greatly. Our games seem to be somewhat similar, and the numbers matched up well. I had some trouble with wedge calculations, as they did not seem to be as consistent as the rest of my bag. 

    Definitely a great experience in Denver, thanks for your help!

    As a Colorado native and a MGoBlue fan I'm glad to hear you had a great time.  It's crazy the difference a few thousand feet makes.  I live in New England now, and I couldn't believe how far I could hit shots at altitude.  I also noticed the ball didn't work as much- which was great off the driver, but no so fun trying to attack pins with draws and fades.  What courses did you play in the Mile High City?
