A good friend of mine retired to FL earlier this year and a couple of us are heading from STL to his place at Solivida (south of Orlando) for an extended weekend after the first of the year. Between now and then, it's back to the winter workout program.

Heading to Alabama in January or February to play the Robert Trent Jones Trail for three months. Planning a full membership with a few trips to Florida and Mississippi while down there. Whenever we decide to return back to Ohio I'm thinking that a couple rounds at Harbor Town and Pinehurst #2 may be needed.

I like to try to take a trip to Florida in January around new years and a trip somewhere south around spring break time. Have traveled to Tampa for many new years golf trips and need to get them scheduled again. Favorite courses down there are TPC Tampa Bay, Westchase & Bardmoor. Have family in Tallahassee and would like to play some golf up there as well. Would like to make a trip to World Woods location to play their two courses in between Tampa and Tallahassee. Have traveled to Alabama for RTJ golf trail 2 times and Tennessee for Bear Trace courses a couple of times as well. Any time you can escape and try to keep your game sharp all year round is great for my game. The last few years having to put the clubs away for 6 months is brutal when the season rolls back around.

Already booked our family trip to Florida in Feb during my son's school vacation. We'll be staying with my parents in Bonita Springs, FL..
Will probably play Raptor Bay Golf Club which is 5 minutes away from my parent's place but I would love to know if there's any other courses worth checking out in the Bonita Springs, Ft. Myers, Naples area... I'll have a car rental so I'll drive anywhere..
I may head up to Orlando and play Lake Nona with my buddy who works there. Played there last winter and had a great time.. And would love to grab a bite at Nona Blue again...
February can't come fast enough!

Bob, you'll really enjoy Casa De Campo if you've never been. Going in February will be a nice change in temperature. Enjoy!

Thanks Dan for the recommendation! Looks great online.. One question, is it worth the cost? If you say yes, i'll be playing there...

I was down in Bonita in March, cool place. Stayed at the hotel right on Raptor Bay!

I'm in NCBob territory now. Unfortunately, the Chicago weather followed me here.
I was still able to play but I plan to try Hawaii in February.
Yes, it is probably the best public access course in the area

I have 2 trips planned to South Florida this winter and already spent a week in Orlando. In Orlando I played all of the Disney courses which were in perfect condition and the weather was amazing! In South Florida, I always love to play Miami Beach, Doral, and The Biltmore in Miami. If I drop my wife off at the spa, I can play The Ocean Course at the Breakers which is amazing!

All,
Just spent a few days at Bandon Dunes. Heading to Orlando in Feb for 3 days of golf. I'd appreciate suggestions on which courses to play.

Ojai Valley and the River Course at Alisal are both near Santa Barbara. Ojai used has hosted tour events, as well as the Golf Skills Challenge. The golf scenes in the movie 'Sideways' were filmed at Alisal. Both very playable, sounds like a fun trip. Enjoy!

Headed to San Diego on New Year's Day. Planning to play every day with my daughter until January 7th when I trek to Oceanside for a full bag fitting. Still looking for suggestions where to play in the greater San Diego area.

To Don O:
Thanks for the advice about walking up instead of making tee times. I will check tomorrow to see if they are still allowing play.

We are heading to Orlando for the PGA Merchandise Show in January. We will be playing Streamsong the weekend after the show. Has anyone ever played there? What did you think? I've heard great things about the course. We will hopefully be able to play both courses. Is one better/tougher than the other?
Have a great winter!

I have a better idea. Do what I did and move to the Jupiter/West Palm Beach area and enjoy 52 weeks a year of superb golf. We have private clubs that are a quarter of a million or more to join and great public access golf at $20- and up per round and everything in between. About 50 tour pros live within 15 minutes of me and the cost of living is reasonable. State income taxes will not even be in discussion for a long time to come. I will be 80 in july and still play five days every week and am a 7.......must be the weather.............................

Heading to Scottsdale, Az for a couple of months. Planning on going up to Sedona for a couple of rounds.
Grant TSugar Land, TX
I played in both Scottsdale and Sedona last spring break and they both had great courses. I got to play the Sedona Golf Resort and TPC Scottsdale (Stadium Course), and I really enjoyed both. Sedona was definitely more scenic with all of the elevation changes and backdrop, and TPC Scottsdale was in great shape and it was cool to see the stadium on the 16th coming down. All in all I enjoyed both courses, the Scottsdale area has more cactus and flat areas, while Sedona has more elevation and less of a desert-like environment as compared to the Phoenix/Scottsdale area due to the fact that it is at a much higher elevation.

I don't want to brag, but I'm going to beautiful Bensenville Il. tonight to hit balls in a climate controlled bubble.

Found out my buddy's family has a time share near Harbortown so the plan is to take a trip down there and play. Never been and always looking for new courses to play. Might take a trip to Arizona or Southern California to play in the spring time.

I've never played in Florida but it sounds amazing.
Love SoCal.
Arizona is fantastic in the winter. Cold mornings and cold nights but the daytime is wonderful!

I live in NYC and we are shut down for the winter here as well. I get down to Orlando (my hometown) a bunch over the winter to play a few tournaments and for tune-up rounds/practice for those events.
Will most likely put together a guys weekend or two to south FL or California.
House putting is getting old already!!!
