Falcons Fire is a fantastic course, Grande Pines is also very nice. Celebration is a fantastic track, as is Orange County National, they are about $100-$125, but I have found that if you want cheaper, then you have to drive a ways to find them. The courses I mentioned have great customer service, are usually in great shape and are challenging.

John,
I was there in late January. I played Royal St. Cloud which has 27 holes. The course was in great shape and the greens were the best I have seen in some time. Unbelievably smooth and fast. Also played Windermere and Mystic Dunes in Orlando which is only a few miles away. Both were in great shape and the prices were good for all three courses. There are so many courses in the area it is actually hard to figure out where to play. There are some other very nice courses in the area that are quite pricy as well. It just depends on what you are willing to pay for a round of golf and how many times you plan on playing.
Hope you enjoy your time in Fl.

I highly recommend Royal St. Cloud golf links. They have three nines, each one is styled differently than the other, also the restaurant is one of the best at a golf course.

If you're up for a ride (about an hour and 1/2) head to Streamsong resort. I HIGHLY recommend playing this gem, you will not be disappointed. They have 2 courses, Red and Blue and from what i hear from people they tend to enjoy the blue more.
Cheers

In August you can play just about any course here for around 40-60 bucks. The way to get great rates are the following:
1) Lots of courses offer email deals during the summer so just hit some websites and signup.
2) GolfNow always has crazy deals online in the summer, it will be HOT and HUMID!!!
Some of the best courses in the region are:
1) Orange County National (Former Q-school site)
2) Grand Cypress Resort (LPGA has played here)
3) Waldorf Astoria GC (Always in awesome shape and deals to be had all summer long)
4) Four Seasons Tranquillo (Former Disney Course) It's expensive now but they are dumping the rates this summer. Course is in great condition since barely anybody knows this place reopened.
5) Shingle Creek (US Open Qualifier site) Nice course but can play slooowwwww.
Harmony and St. Cloud are great values in the area but if your coming from Europe you need to look at the next two below -
Streamsong!!! Red or Blue or both. This is a must play but will be a 1-1.5 hour drive to get there.
It will run you about 100-150 per round that time of year but it's the best public golf courses in Florida period. I don't consider places like TPC or some others that require you to stay at their overpriced "resorts" as public golf.
If you need any help with hotels or tee times I'd be glad to assist. I traveled heavily around Florida for work and have stayed at just about every hotel in the region during the last 6 years. Living in the area (Winter Garden) now so like I said, be glad to help.
thanks for all the tips are there any titleist fitting centres or anything similar nearby ? and which are the best golf shops to visit i have played falcons fire and celebration before thanks again
only 4 weeks to go getting really excited now
Just to let you all know we played orange county national mystic dunes falcons fire shingle creek and highlands reserve all were very nice courses thanks for all the help .
