A few weeks ago I ask if I should bring my own clubs or rent if I'm only playing one day at the Bahamas. Most of you said yes, bring your own. Well I didn't listen and ended up renting a set of CLWYs. I did bring my own FJ glove, a sleeve of ProV1 and my FJ Hyperflex. No further comment about those but I will say I had an enjoyable round with my uncle and the scenery just blew me away.
I played the Ocean Club Golf Course on Paradise Island and it does host the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic every year around January. My uncle and I made a tee time around 1:20, twilight rate. We showed up around 11:30 so we could warm up with the rentals and get ready. Clubhouse is big with a beautiful view from the deck over looking the course and ocean. We paid our dues and went to the starter. He Immediately checked our receipt and said to go ahead and play. 11:40 we teed off, i was happy but kinda bummed I didn't get a chance to warm up. Oh well, paid twilight rate and teed off before that? I'll take it.
Course review: It's a Tom Weiskopf design and i think this was the first time I've ever played a course designed by him. I will admit the course was pretty basic; up and down and pretty flat. Nothing too hard and it's definitely a course you could go low if you keep in play. The conditions were awesome, no complaints there however a lot of the bunkers were filled with small white rocks and sea shells so i tried my best to stay outta there..
Course scenery: I think this is what you pay for the most. Just unreal. Not a bad view anywhere on this course. Between looking at the beautiful white beaches and crystal clear water to the GIGANTIC houses along the course and beach, just amazing. I've only played one other island course and this is by far the best one.
Here are a few pics and I took a ton but won't show them all. Here are my favorite ones. So if you're ever in the Bahamas, I highly recommend checking this course out. It's pricey but definitely worth playing it once. Ocean Club Golf Course, Paradise Island.
