I had the balls with a square or a triangle on them. Though I couldn't tell a lot of difference, I liked the ones with the triangle better

I play the Pro V1x..... Put the test ball in play, on the 23rd of October, on a course in the Metro St. Louis area with perfect weather conditions & temperatures. The test ball seemed to have a bit more spin off wedge shots. I believe it produced very similar distance off both driver & irons, but I experienced approximately 5 to 10 yards more with the test ball on both Irons & Driver respectively. Could not tell any significant difference between being a harder or softer feel. Several mid irons & wedges, had a lower ball flight, which I do not prefer. Need to play several more rounds, under Summer playing conditions, to really evaluate the performance. Overall performance, was similar to my current ProV1x. Looking forward to playing this ball when it becomes available. (index of 4.1)

Thanks for the opportunity to test the balls. They are appealing to the eye. The feel off the clubface is firm but buttery. It has great distance and excellent spin off the short irons. Great feel off the putter face too!!!
  4. It seems as though I got more distance than usual, by quite a bit. I normally play with Pro V1 or ProV1X and the ball seemed a little harder than the ProV1's.
  5. The test ball went much further than I normally hit my drives, but it seemed harder than the Pro V1 & ProV1X's I normally plat with.

Thanks Titleist for including me in the testing program. I received a sleeve of test balls with the red number. Assuming it's the Prov1x. Took them out yesterday. Weather in Chicago is getting cold. Mid 40s temps compared the ball against the srxn Zstar and Zstar XV and the Project a from TM. Distance was hard to tell given the temps and the wind. Comparatively flight for me was powerful similar to the Prov1x. I felt like thr XV had the edge though in the wind. The test ball felt good off the irons and wedges. As usual the ball has brembo brakes. Stops on a dime on command. I can be much more aggressive around the greens with it. The other balls had differing levels of stopping power but I never feel confident when I have minimal green to work with. The Project a and Zstar had good spin but seemed to be all over the place in the wind. One negative was that the test ball did scuff quickly. I was playing a new set of irons (716 AP2'S) but the other balls didn't show any scuffing. Seems like a good all around ball. I buy Prov1x's for the greenside stopping power. As long as you keep that, I'll keep buying.

    Mike,
I must agree with almost every post. These balls are exceptionally controllable. Off the tee, I actually increased distance approx 5 to 7 yards. My iron play was more narrow then usual considering I play a slight fade. Around the green, I felt they stopped in a hurray, and didn't bounce as much without backspin.
    Great prototype!

    Thank you for the opportunity.

    Cheers!

Just finished using the sleeve of ProV1x (I assume) test balls you sent me and I was impressed. The ProV1x has been my go to ball. These felt soft off my driver as well as my irons and the distance and control was excellent. Their action around the green was also up to expectations giving me the high spin action I've come to count on. This is a ball I will continue to use next season. Thank you Titleist!
  9. Thanks for the new balls. They seemed to have soft feel of ProV1 that I normally play. The balls seemed to not play well in the wind due to ballooning and getting carried left and right. I am a mid trajectory player. I lost distance due to the ball rising too high for my taste. In calm conditions it still played a little higher than normal. Putting had no measurable difference to me. Good feel.

I received a sleeve of Titleist balls with red 1's. The weather here in central Illinois has cooled off. I have played 5 rounds with one ball and this ball performs very well in the cooler temps. Would love to see what it would do in 80-90 degree weather. The cover is very durable and ready for more rounds. The test ball jumps off the driver (915 D2), irons (712 AP2's) and wedges (SM 6's). Averaging approximately 10 yards longer than the current ProV1X that I play. The test ball has great feel for chipping and putting. One thing I did notice on 60-80 yard chip shots. If you compress the ball, it really jumps. I hit multiple shots long over the green by doing this trying to generate spin. Overall a great ball and I hope it's in production for 2017. Thank you Titleist for the opportunity to provide player feedback on the test balls.

While I currently play the ProVI, i liked the ProVIx (red lettered prototype ball) better than the ProVI (=black lettering) ball. I believe that I would switch if this ball is put on the market.
    Thanks

Thanks titleist for the test sleeve!! i played a thirty three holes with one of them before sending it for swim, I felt these have a little softer feel than the current 1's and x's .I spin the ball a fair amount and these don't seem to spin quite as much which was nice not to watch them spinoff the green. I currently have an abundance of balls but I would be very interested in knowing what these are.
So I can start using them .Thanks

After a little testing of the new ProV1x ball, I have noticed that they fly much straighter, as well as possibly a little further on mishits. I also noticed a slightly softer feel on approach shots, while the ball stayed at a good trajectory. I was doubtful that there could be a big difference between the new model and the previous one, but these seemed to be a significant improvement in all the correct areas (not that the last model had anything that I would complain about). I will continue to test these golf balls. If this is the ball that is brought to market, it will almost surely be in my bag. Thank you for thinking of your customers, I appreciate this opportunity! It has been very fun to see what will hopefully hit the market soon!

    Thanks again!

Just hit my Test golf balls...not sure if they were PROV or NXT but I really liked them. I hit 3 shots with my current ball and 3 with the test ball with many different clubs. Gained a few yards carry with the iron shots and they stopped about the same on the green. Feel was also better than my current ball. Now if only they make them in Yellow I will make the switch next year!

over all feel of the ball felt firm. feel around the green nice. distance off the tee was great. yardage with irons very consistent. I play pro v 1x and the test balls had a red number so I'm thinking prototype PV1x?? Felt more firm then the ball I play. Hey I made a hole in one with it… so it has to be a great ball right? :)

Thank you Team Titleist for the prototype ball testing again. Unfortunately, I am not able to fully test out the balls due to injury of my back and arm. I wish I could be able to give my opinion on these balls but unfortunately it wouldn't be fair to only be able to hit putts right now and not full shots. Hopefully I can resume hitting some shots soon without the potential for further injury or harm.

Thanks again for the ongoing opportunity to be able to sample your Titleist prototype balls.

I played yesterday with the test ball with red # (V1X model I assume). First, the ball felt softer off putter, wedges and full iron shots and the same off my driver. Second, the ball seemed to fly straighter/tighter off all my clubs especially the driver (kind of like the NXT tour off the driver if that makes any sense). Distance was the same for me with all my clubs. I hope the new ball is close to what I played.
  19. I tested the V1x test balls 2 weeks ago, they performed very well off the tee.The balls are maybe 5-10 yards longer, while still maintaining good green side spin. The cover seemed firmer than the current V1x

A few more 'minor' things that I wanted to point out after playing a round with my prototype balls-

    1) Durability is fabulous. I hit a shot that landed on a gravel cart path and after putting it through the ball-washer you never could have guessed it.

    2) The ball took a sharpie really well. I don't think I had to re-mark my ball the entire round, even through multiple washes.

Other than that, I didn't notice much of a difference - perhaps the ball launched a bit higher, but it's hard to tell if that's just my swing that day or if that's the ball's doing. Titleist does such a great job with balls that I'm sure this year's ProV compared to last year's ProV can't be that much different, just because last year's ProV is already the best ball on the market :)

Thanks for the opportunity Titleist! Will continue playing my balls until I lose them, and will provide more feedback if I come up with anything else!
