I am a 15 year old from Anniston, Alabama and I've been playing golf for a couple years now and I have a 6 handicap. The prototype ball testing is a great thing. All of my friends are asking me where I got them and I just say, "Titleist". I think this is a great oppurtunity for Titleist to get input from the amateur golfers that use their equipment.

Played the "test" balls I recieved a few weeks ago. The balls were easy to work right to left with drivers and irons. The Vokey wedges scuffed the ball faces so the durability is in question for me. I normally play the Pro V1X balls.
  3. As a 67 yo male with a handicap of 15, I normally play ProV1x specialty golf balls and want to thank Titleist for the R&D test balls. It has been raining and cold here in New York, but I did get out for 9 holes with these balls and being just an average player, only thing I did notice was the balls seem to stick on the breen better. Is there a way to find out what balls I was playing? Can wait to play them some more. Thanks again.

Have not received the latest test balls, I'm always excited to receive them, and give them a run. I would like to know what particular ball I'm testing, or when the test is finished by the "testers". I love what Titleist does and wanting input from their ball users. Hopefully this week I'll receive my test balls!

Mike, I got an email from you that said I was sent some test balls several weeks ago and asked for my thoughts. I did not get any. What address did you mail them to? Thanks, Doug Petrie. ddpet@paulbunyan.net. 612-618-4377.
  6. I received the black prototypes on Tuesday and have had some time off from work lately so got out and played with them the last 4 days. I've been playing well lately and it continued with these balls. I usually play the Pro V1 in fall and spring and play the Pro V1x in the summer. I thought that the distance was comparable to maybe a little longer than the Pro V1's I've been playing. I loved the feel and I played the same ball for 54 with hardly any scuffs (can still use it). What did you do with the cover? I love it. I can usually play a ball 30-45 holes with a Pro V1 before having to take it out of play due to scuffs and scratches. I used the second one on today's round and it looks like new. Feel free to send me more, I really like this ball, great feel and a very resilient cover.

The Titleist prototype ball that had arrived the day before playing TPC Deere Run, home of the John Deere Classic, in Silvis IL. It had soft feel, was easy to control, nice feel around the greens but perhaps a bit shorter than my current ball. But on the 16th hole, I had my first hole-in-one. Love this ball!

Got the prov1x test balls in the mail earlier in the week while I was out of town. Put them in play as soon as I could I loved them. Excellent control around the greens and love the feel off the putter face. Overall great ball. Gives me great confidence for future rounds when I put these balls in play! Thanks Mike and Team Titleist!

The sleeve of three "Test" balls was great!
I felt the ball performed very similar to ProV1x balls with even a bit more spin at the green.
Unless buying in special quality balls have become quite pricey but, I would pay for these balls just like my favorite ProV1x.
I used to play the NXT Tour balls, those I really liked but, as my game improved I found more spin from the ProV1x and switched.
These test balls appeared to take that next step towards better ball control and approach shot hold. Even hitting the green from 200+ out, the balls held at the green.
    Thanks for the opportinity!
  10. I tested balls through this program, but they were some kind of lower end ball so I have to say, it wasn't a very enjoyable experience. I have always enjoyed playing Titleist golf balls. I think the ProV1* was my favorite ball ever made - they rocked! I don't think that particular ball fit most golfers swing very well, however.

I tested the prototypes early this year that had the square or diamond design. I enjoyed playing them and gave them both a positive when I sent you my critique. Still don't know what prototypes they were but I'd buy either. Please include me in your next test.

I'd sure like to try out these new prototypes.
  13. I submitted a comment on the last test but it did not show up??

I thought the ball played very much like the Velocity.

I normally play the NXT Tour S but tried the DT TruSoft a couple of months back. Might be my new ball !!

    Thanks
  14. I played the "test" ball intermixed throughout the round with my usual ProV1. The test ball is significantly lighter and makes a clicking sound off of my irons which is not the usual sound I'm used to. When it hits the ground, it is very active. My club had just punch the greens but I was able to still stop and spin the ball. The forward roll was noticeable. The overall feel of the ball was ok. I preferred the feel to my current ProV than to the test ball. Putting also felt like the ball didn't have enough weight to it. One of my golf buddies who is 75 and a 14 felt that the lighter more active ball was better for him because he doesn't generate enough swing speed to comfortably hit the current heavier ProV1. Overall, it was a nice ball but not the feel or distance I get from the current ProV1. I'll stick with that ball for now!

Love it. Great response with short irons and feel of the putter is great. When using this off the tee same great response as previous pro V-1. Overall feel of this ball is fantastic. Best ball continues to get better.
  16. Unfortunately I had two things working against conducting a more expansive test. My game is in a state of temporary (I hope) disrepair and I rinsed all three balls by our 14th hole. With the black number I assumed I was testing the Pro V1. It felt a little firmer than the current model. No distance issues. I really couldn't discern any substantive differences other than the firmer feel.

I have been lucky to participate in the testing program for several years. It is by far the best program in the industry! Not only do you get to test new equipment, you provide input on it's performance and Titleist uses your input to make improvements. Titleist even sent me a sleeve of NXT S golf balls for participating. It doesn't get any better than that!! Thanks TT........you got it right!!

Love the feel of the prototype balls, maybe it's just me but they have a softer touch!
  19. I had the chance to play my usual ProV1x and the red number test ball side by side. I didn't notice much difference from 100 to 210 in, but from 100 in I noticed a little better spin control from the fairway. Off the tee the test ball had a little higher launch angle and straighter ball flight. I would like to see a more resilient cover to resist scuffs.

Thanks for letting me take part in your test.

Received by golf balls this week. Thanks for the chance to participate in the test. First thing was putting. The ball felt a little firmer coming off the putter blade, but rolled pretty true every time. With the driver I felt I got a little more distance, maybe 5-7 yards, the ball felt great and looked great coming off the face. With the irons the distance was about the same, no real change, however the ball seemed to fly higher. Pitching and chipping around the green this ball is the best. Nothing compares to the Titleist. Could use a couple dozen of these if you have any to spare. Thanks again for the chance to be a part of Team Titleist
