Background data: age 71, index 7.7 from whites (6,100 yds), swing speed 85+, 7-iron carry 145 yds, driver carry 210. Have played Pro V1x exclusively for years.

Bought a sleeve of EXPs from my club pro, played 18 holes with each this week. I didn't notice any difference in performance or feel compared to ProV. Biggest difference I noticed was in the cover durability.

I don't hit it far enough to lose many balls, so I regularly play 30 holes or more with a single Pro V1x. The cover durability is uniformly outstanding. Cleaning the ball with a wet towel every hole, the 1x is still pretty shiny and unmarked at the end of 18. The EXP, on the other hand, retained more grass stains and became dull after several holes. By the end of 18, each EXP was moderately dull. Also, they picked up a number of small nicks and scrapes; other than my clubheads, the three never came in contact with anything harder than grass or sand.

I'll stick with my 1x, thank you very much

TT, Played 2 rounds this weekend (82 & 85) and this ball performed exceptional. It was cool here on LI around 50 degrees. Good distance off tee and irons and good roll out on greens. Will continue playing this ball...

Played the EXP this week in very windy mid-50* weather in Detroit...shot 76...I was very impressed, played great in the wind comparable in the wind to the TP5x I play. It didn’t play as soft as an AVX, felt more like a Pro V or TP5. No loss of distance to my TP5x with driver or irons & it was very good around the greens, much better than the AVX.
Hope Titleist brings this ball to the market I’d defiantly change from my TP5x to this ball!

  5. Initial observations.
Purchased the EXP thru Titleist. I have played 5 rounds with two of them Windy.
This ball feels closer to the AVX which I use more often than ProV1X

    Positives-
    1. It goes straight especially on the Driver
    2. Down wind on the Driver is Straighter and Longer than AVX.
guessing their is less spin on the Driver ???
    3. Noticed additional spin even on Downwind shots with the irons.
    4. It seem like the ball rolled out a little bit longer on the Driver than AVX

    Negatives-
    1. Did not see additional yardages with the irons and hybrids
    2. Ball had more scuff marks than I have ever seen with the AVX
    3. On putting the ball seemed harder (less feel)
    4. I was shocked to see on wedges that the ball did move sideways more
than expected. On one round I was able to hit plenty of second shots rotating thru
AVX and EXP and notice the difference in side way movement when it was windy.
and yes if I felt any issue with the strike I hit another ball. handicap tee to green is about
    an 5.

Soo initial observation is this is an improvement on AVX.
  6. Best putting ball ever. Been playing the Pro V1. This ball fits my game better in all respects; good distance, soft feel off all clubs, good flight. I am 78 yrs. old, play off the senior tees. I have been scoring 2 to 3 strokes better with this ball,
  7. I have now played an additional 2 times and have noticed a good pattern.
With the previous AVX ball every once in a while the distance and dispersion pattern would be different from Ball to Ball expectations. Not saying I was perfect but the issue came up too often. With the EXP any variation was my issue.

So what I am saying is the previous AVX could be inconsistent and so far the EXP
is very consistent and I can count on it. Very similar to ProV1 and ProV1x.
And again to repeat.... this Ball seems to fly real straight...

I picked these up at my local Roger Dunn this week and was very curious what the ball was about.
Today I got them into play and tried to play them against my ProV1x while out on the course... I couldn't play two balls on EVERY shot even though the course was wide open.

    Course: DeBell (Burbank CA)
Conditions today: Sunny, Temp ranged from 55-75 degrees, fairways and greens were SOFT.

Initial thoughts. The ball felt harder than my ProV1x off the irons. Driver through Hybrid however it felt like it came off hotter. The ball had a lower flight path than the ProV1X and carried a little longer. I wasn't getting ANY roll today so its hard to gauge overall length. But CARRY was longer with the long clubs.

I didn't love them from 125 yards or shorter. They felt harder off the face and if the greens weren't so soft Im not sure they would hold as well as ProV1. Putting as well was a little harder off the face, not my favorite feel, but not bad by any means.

Durability: They scuff easier than ProV, I played a nice little punch today and after that shot it had a few scratches on the cover. Seems to contradict the harder feeling ball if the cover is that soft???

Color also seemed less of a BRIGHT WHITE. Nothing really to complain about, just different shade of white.

I'm going to keep playing them to get a better feel in all conditions. This might be a good ball for windy conditions because of the lower ball flight. But Im not sure where they fit into the lineup. I paid $40 for a dozen. Tour Soft are about the same and a little cheaper, ProV1 a tad more but a better ball overall. I've never tried the AVX so I can't compare against that.

I will say this was fun to try some new tech on the course. Would love to have Titleist continue with this kind of testing. But it would be nice if we didn't have to pay full freight to be guinea pigs.

    Cheers.

I just heard about the EXP and ordered a dozen. Given the reviews this could be a game changer.
  10. Played the EXP-01 on a 65 degree day. The feel from the putter face is excellent, one of the best. Driver distance was about the same as the AVX, but has a harder feel. Iron distance was about the same as the AVX, but once again has a harder feel. The EXP-01 tends to fly straighter than other balls. Wedge spin was a little less than the AVX and Pro V1. Sometimes the ball released more than expected, although the greens had sand on them (winter golf). Overall, I prefer the AVX and Pro V1.

Would like to see this ball replace AVX and Tour Soft. Call it the TourFeel and also drop Velocity. There would be four Titleist golf ball offerings on the counter (Pro V1, Pro V1x, TourFeel, and TruFeel) at the pro shop. You could special order left dash Pro V1x and left dot Pro V1 if needed.
  12. Today was my day to try the new exp 01. I was so intrigued to try them and let me tell you they were 100% the biggest let down.

To give you a brief background about my game. I have been an avid player of titleist since the balata balls. I have never deviated from this brand. Year after year Titleist has proven to be the leader in the golf world for superior balls.

I would qualify myself to good golfer with higher potential than most. My swing is a little more aggressive than most. My irons are in low 110s for swing speed and my driver is 125 when i really want to move it. I have really quick hands at impact that created a high launch and a lot of spin. I used to play the Pro V until the release of the AVX. The difference between these two balls was amazing. The AVX ball was lower spin on drives and was at least 15 - 20 yards longer than the Pro V. The AVX had more aggressive spin control for my swing in my mid irons to wedge game.

After reading all the reviews for the exp 01 and the comparison as an AVX with more spin is 100% junk.

I played 1 exp 01 compared to 1 AVX and the result were significant if not almost traumatic. With the exp i lost 20 - 30yds per drive and 10 - 20 yrds per iron. The launch of the exp 01 was higher than the AVX. The spin control was the same from my 5 iron to my wedge game. Out of bunkers the AVX had more spin and control. Putting was a moot point. The feel was softer for the exp 01 if that matters.

Overall i will continue to be an AVX player. However, comparing the exp 01 balls to AVX is not even close.

The hard question i have now is what do I do with 3 sleeves of exp 01 i will never have any intention on playing again.

  13. I have a 6 index and usually play Pro V1x. I broke my wrist in July, had surgery, and returned to playing golf in September. I played today with the Exp 01 ball for the first time, played the same ball the entire round, and broke 80 (78) for the first time since my injury. The ball had great spin, had a great trajectory, and great feel around the greens. I thought it was very similar to the ProV1x and it held up the entire round.

I really like this ball until I have to play it out of a bunker or it goes off a tree. I destroyed a cover to the point of it being unplayable after about 8 holes.

Saw the video today also. It was interesting especially when they were showing the number comparisons (ball speed & spin) between the AVX & EXP. I did not see the video where they compared the V1x/V1 (whichever it was) with the EXP, but wonder how the numbers stacked up for that comparison.

Played a 2nd round with the EXP-01 today. Temp today was a little warmer than my first go round and the greens were a little firmer. It was also fairly windy all day so that was a nice variable to throw into the testing.

I enjoyed playing the ball more today in the windy conditions. Same thoughts as before, the ball flight is lower and in todays windy conditions that was great to have. Shot shape also stayed very consistent even with the wind. Cross winds didn't push the ball as hard as much as I would have normally accounted for.

Spin was excellent today when attacking the pin with shots staying within a 2 foot radius of landing point. Putting feel was excellent... buttery soft.

That soft cover however is definitely more prone to scuffs.

Depending on price point this ball could be a nice in-between from PREMIUM lines like ProV and AVx and entry level models like TruFeel and Velocity.
  18. Love playing the new ball. Great feel off the club face. Similar to the AVX, with a better touch around the greens.

Did a ball fitting a few days ago and EXP was tied for the top spot with TP5...Chrome Soft was third. These three produced the best ball speed and spin off wedges and irons. Hoping these come-to-market permanently!

Tried it and definitely liked it better than my ProV1’s.
  21. Played two rounds with the ball. More penetrating ball flight, good distance. Will play them again today. My Pro V1X’s are getting jealous.
