TT - Now that summer is here, does anyone have any good ways to clean the white oceanside hats and remove the sweat stains? I assume tossing them in the wash might ruin the hat structure.

Good news is these performance material hats wash up much better than the 100% cotton hats. For just these sweat stains, I usually run warm water in the sick and use dish soap and soft plastic dishwashing brush to lightly scrub. Rinse with warm water and set on the outdoor table on the back porch to dry. Looks good as new.
  3. Thanks. I’m going to try this. I specifically searched for this as I have 5 Titleist performance hats with massive sweat rings. Debated throwing them in the washing machine but I’m considered that the form of the hat would be destroyed.

Yep, try hand washing in the sink first. It has worked well for me. I do have a white TT performance material hat from a TT outing about three years ago that has gone through at least 10 washings. True that it no longer looks brand new but the stains keep coming out.

I have used a hat washing cage with decent success. You can get them on Amazon. Throw in the washing machine with a light load of clothes - on our washing machine I use the delicate cycle. Then let the hat hang dry in the cage overnight. Some cages can even be used in the dishwashing machine. Depending on the cage you purchase you may have to reshape the bill, but I've never had an issue so long as I let the hat dry fully.

I put mine in the dishwasher. Works great, but don’t put in cupboard or eat off them :)

Spray those stains with Johnson's SHOUT Triple Action. I use a light stiff brush to ensure the dirt and stain gets a good cleansing. Empty your dishwasher. Put you hat(s) in the top drawer of the dishwasher and run a full cycle.
Take the hats out and put on a towel and let dry naturally. Have been doing this for years. The hats wear longer and are clean, but eventually do wear out.

Hats take a beating June thru September here in the lowcountry of S Carolina, when that darn heat index goes over 100 most of the time. If you don't sweat, you just ain't normal. Ring around the cap/hat bill. The black and red hats just fade away into the sunset over the Atlantic. Just like a compadres out there in Texas. Did not realize but Houston metro population is 2M larger than the whole state S Carolina. Just sayin'.

I put mine on the top rack in the dishwasher. They come out clean and the structure stays intact.
  12. I've always spot cleaned with an old toothbrush and a little bit of Tide/random laundry soap in a cup of warm water. Rinsed the soap off with some clean water, dried as much as I could with a hand towel and then set in front of a box fan to dry the rest of the way. Have heard of putting in a pillow case in the washer then letting dry on their own as well as the dishwasher method which they sell racks for but I've always worried too about ruining the hat.

I've seen (have not personally done this) a dishwasher cycle used before. May be worth researching. You could always fill up a sink with water (research whether warm or cold is best) with laundry detergent, hand stir the soap up then place your hat in and let it sink. Follow that up with a thorough washing/rinsing of the hat with fresh water.
Lastly, I've only done this with my.. "hats with a swoosh on them"... doing a normal laundry wash small cycle on "delicates" with only a couple of towels. Then let them air dry after, DO NOT use the dryer.

You might try the dishwasher. I’ve put a stain remover like oxi-clean on the stains and placed the hat on the top rack of the dishwasher. Hats come out clean and not mangled.
  15. I have a hat washer that you clip the hat in then wash it so the hat keeps the shape... works really well

Have you tried some soapy water (use laundry detergent) and a toothbrush?

The age old golfers problem of white hats. Im a guy who sweats a lot, i try to stick to the hats that aren't cotton based, then i just rinse them off in the sink and if i need to use some soap I will

I use shout stain sticks and then rinse them in water and let them dry. They come out looking great.

Hat cage in dishwasher or washing machine hang dry just like the previous TT’ers have suggested works for me every time.

I will hand wash in the sink with a toothbrush or similar type soft-bristled brush with either dish soap or laundry soap, rinse well and let air dry after re-shaping the crown. With the new Performance materials Titleist uses they dry pretty quickly and look practically brand new.

Maybe the guy who uses the dishwasher should throw away those PXG hats and get Titleist hats, this is after all Team Titleist lol. Please dont take it personal Sandy J, just messing with you
  22. Yeah the light colours always take a beating and tbf the cotton ones get to the point of no return and it quite hard to take imo
  23. One of the best ways is to wash buy hand use a tooth brush and oxiclean. I wouldn't run the hat under water to rinse can ruin the hats entegrity use a damp wash cloth and dab .
