The Masters (Mecca - heads above the others)
The Open Championships (heads above the next level. Playing golf like it should be played, in its most natural state.)
    The PGA Championships
The US Open (they try to make the course almost impossible to play at times. I think it should be a good challenge for the pros, but sometimes they take it to the limits and not fun to watch.)
The Players Championship (referred to as the fifth major).

Totally agree with that order and your point of view on them.

    Masters for me
  7. Most excitement/anticipation is The Masters, however my favorite to watch is by far The Open. Alarm set for 5am on the west coast, coffee and a quiet house and links golf with weather defending the course. Absolutely love it and The Old Course is tops on my bucket list.

TPC is cool, but its not Augusta National. The golf courses aren't comparable. The masters just checks all the boxes, course, history, prestige, past winners, tournament coverage. Masters week is like a can't miss holiday for golf enthusiast across the world. The Players is a nice tournament and I definitely like to watch, but it doesn't compare to the masters.

I'd go The Master, US Open, Open, PGA Champ; in that order. The Masters is miles ahead of the others though. Can't wait!

    Lethbridge,

Of the four majors it would be the Masters; the Open; PGA championship and the US Open. The Masters signifies the start of the golf season. The Open is by far the best tourney to watch, the weather, the different shots that are required. The PGA has by far the best field.

I love watching the Masters...but my favorite Tournaments in order are:
    1. U.S. Open
    2. The Master's
    3. Ryder Cup
    4. The Open Championship
    5. PGA Championship

My favorite was always Colonial in Fort Worth TX. While it wasn't a major and didn't always draw the biggest name players in later years, the history and list of names on the Champion's Wall by the first tee always gave me goose bumps. It was also the local tournament, closest to my home so I attended almost every year. Later, I became a course marshal and eventually the Hole Captain on #14. The experience behind the ropes is hard to explain until you have done it. Lots of fun and it was an honor to volunteer and support the tournament every year. We also were given a Marshal's Play Day by Colonial CC where we were allowed the opportunity to play the course which is normally members-only. Standing on the tee knowing this was Hogan's Alley and many of the greats played there was pretty special.

While I do love the Masters, my favorite event is The Open Championship. Always played on one of the great tracks, the R&A don't "tweak" the course to protect par and the weather offers some interesting shotmaking.

I would have to say the Masters also, but tied for a close second would be the U.S. Open and The Open Championship.
  15. I always love the Travelers because it’s 20 mins away and kid friendly, a fun time...I am however super excited about the US Open as it’s In Winged Foot. I always wanted to play this course but don’t have an in. My wife and I got tickets for Wednesday to attend and look forward to walking the grounds.
  16. I love watching the masters, when that tourney arrives I have it playing on my computer at work. would love to go and watch it one day. just to be able to walk the grounds and see the course, one of my bucket list items for sure.

The Open as it always seems to be a an anyone can win event if they can master the course & weather. Then the Masters because of the title & style course it is played on. The US Open is 3rd for me I don't like to see constant anguish on a a golfers face when their good shot turns out to be a bad shot because of the course & how the grass is cut..

I used to love the tournament in Colorado, where they used the modified stableford scoring system. Castle Pines was the golf course.

Masters is definitely #1 but the Open is a close second. I love the Players also. I have to give the Wells Fargo and Wyndam Championship a mention also as they are in my back yard.
