If our superintendent opens the course we play. If the wind is blowing, not too badly, we play and my FJ rain suit helps, or my FJ lined sweater with a layer. I have a balaclava that help break the wind for my head. Wear the FJ boots which have some lining for the feet. There are ways to keep warm. Guess seeing your breath when it is cold in Wisconsin is a good reason to move to S Carolina. With respect.

It wasn't the breath that made us move, it was shoveling the 10"-15" of snow that finally got to us.

In the days when I lived in NY, I would play in the 40's. Now with 10 years of Florida under my belt, I need mid to upper 50's to get going. Like everyone else, the wind is the thing. Hey, I'm retired and it's Florida. If you don't like today's weather, tomorrow's always another day.

45 is my minimum. This year the temperatures have not been so much of a problem as wet courses and the grass not getting cut daily.

I've teed off a few times where it started to snow during the round. On one occasion, late April played in a season-opening two man scramble. It started snowing on the 6th hole. 7th hole you could see footprints. 8th tee it was snowing so hard you could hardly see the green. 9th tee we had to scrape 1" of snow off tee box to secure footing for a stance. They called it after 9 holes. We received over 15" of snow with that storm!

We have an annual walleye fishing weekend over Mothers Day. Four of us went to play nine in the middle of the day. Long johns, full rain gear, mittens, hand and toe warmers, etc.. The clubhouse was locked up, but tee markers out and flags in the greens, so off we went with flurries in the air. It snowed and blew the entire nine, but didn't start to accumulate much until we finished. It was so windy, whitecaps on the lake and the boats filling with snow that we didn't fish that evening.

Regularly play in the minus degrees over here in the uk we had around minus 12 in 2010

Maybe 40-50 (5-10 °C), depending on the wind. Everything below that isn't much fun anymore in my opinion, I'll usually just hit the sim in the clubhouse then.

Typically, 40 and sunny is about my cutoff; but, id gladly make an exception for any of the top courses in the world.

temperature doesn't matter. as long as it isn't raining then I have no problem playing.

As long as it's not snowing and the course is open, then it's playtime.
It's nice (or so I remember) to get back into the clubhouse and thaw out with a pot of coffee and toasted sandwiches.
At Royal Liverpool, where they have a certain style, they drink Port & hot Bovril to keep the cold at bay!

I play year round at Bay Pointe, Onset Mass. As long as there is no snow cover we are usually open. Played with wind chill below zero. We always walk. Once you get started not so bad.
