Had the first tee time of the morning and was playing alone. I finished the front nine and came around to the 10th hole a short par 3 measuring 109 yds, hit my 50 degree wedge. The ball hit 2 feet from the hole took a bounce past the hole and rolled back in. So the question is does it count as a hole in one. The only witness was the guy running the pro shop who happened to be standing outside and saw me swing the club, I started yelling to him that I just made a hole in one, he came from outside the pro shop to the tee box and watched me walk down to the green and pick my ball out of the hole. So does it count? It is an honorable game played by honest people even without a “real” witness.

Two of my three were alone. As far as I am concerned, you hit the shot, it went into the hole, nothing else matters. Enjoy!

  4. To you personally, yes it counts.
To the golfing community it does not count.
But I’d claim it anyway - congrats.

Be sure to get that guy’s contact info so he can attest to your story. Haha When asked what one of my fears are I tell people it’s getting a hole in one while I’m playing by myself.

Absolutely, it counts. Mine came while playing alone and was witnessed by the group on the next tee. I don't know who was more exited, me or them.

No Nick, for me it would be hitting one in the water and then hitting the next one in the hole for par.

But of course it does! You had the benefit of a witness, but the sense of joy and achievement is there regardless. I had my only hole in one in simile circumstances. The next tee is beyond the hole in question and players walk back down two thirds of the green to access the path down to the fairway. A Fourball watched my ball roll in and started cheering, prompting to to run the whole 213 yards up to the hole in excitement!
My son had his, playing with me and my boss - on a par 4! I enjoyed that better than mine!
  15. We all chase for one...you got it. Congrats!
