Our local golf association hosted a 2 man scramble the last weekend in April a few years back. Cold, windy and overcast at the start. Snow started falling on our 7th tee and we left footprints on the green. Snowing so hard we could hardly see the green on the par 4 8th. Moving to #9 tee, we had to clear a spot to tee off, almost an inch on the ground. Piped one down the middle, 9 iron to 3'! Cleared a path through the snow to roll in the birdie. Then came the horn. They called it. Time for a Bloody Mary. We got 18" of snow overnight in that storm!

I played a round in Maine, just outside Portland Maine... it was 36 when I teed off and when I finished it was 31. Let's just say I got a lot of good rolls on my drives thanks to the frozen fairways.

I know I have played in colder temps but the coldest I have ever been was in Tupper Lake, NY in the Adirondacks.
In July! The day started out cloudy around 55 degrees but the wind picked up and blew in a cold rain...almost akin to a squall. I was not properly dressed for the precipitation and the wind just chilled me to the bone. By the 15th hole it was all blown through and the sun came out. I wasn't a happy camper but it was a memorable day...

I remember playing a round either last year or the year before where it was 28* when I teed off. Got up to the mid 30's by the end of the round. Usually though, I would say the lowest is around 35*.

We play all winter. Every winter. There is a big difference between frozen solid turf, and frost. Layer up and figure out how not to bounce your shot off the frozen green. Play it short and bump and run usually works. Using an all helps get the hole going for your tee. Imagination is your best friend. Happy Winter to all.
