Speed up play. Ban alignment aids now.

I did try marking my ball in a number of different ways for alignment, including both perpendicular and single and triple-track parallel to the putting line.

When I first started doing it, about 15 years ago, my putting was just terrible. I studied everything I could about putting including the Dave Pelz Putting Bible and practiced regularly to understand what I needed to do to improve my putting stats. They finally improved and so did my confidence.

I went back to marking the ball and gave it a few seasons, but as I did my confidence decreased, so I gave it a rest, then tried it again. My putting stats still didn’t improve, they actually increased my putting strokes per round. I tried it for short putts only and it just didn’t work as I had hoped. I tried it with my Scotty Newport, Laguna and Newport 3 putters and also with the Scotty X5 mallet.

I went back to simply aligning my ball with a point between the ball and the hole, along the break, like many of the old pros did, more focused on the distance, and my stats went back up again as did my confidence.

It feels more like I can just relax and stroke the ball through my aim point to the hole, focusing on the break and distance, rather than focusing on the alignment point and the break to the hole. My stats have never been better.

In my mind, confidence is everything. It’s true in every aspect of the game, and never is it more obvious than in putting. When I’m anxious I lose the flow, when I’m confident I can feel the putt. And when it feels that good I can putt with anything you give me “Na-na-na-na-see the ball, Danny. Na-na-na-na-be the ball, Danny.”

I've used the alignment line for many years. Once you've picked your line, trust the alignment and focus on the speed. Easy to say, harder to do.

I have always preferred to have no marks on the top of the ball in all instances. I trust myself to make the proper stroke without distractions of markings. I putt at a spot a few feet out from my ball on the intended line then I only need focus on speed.

For past 3 years I utilized the line on the seam for putting and recently stopped doing it. I have found that my stroke is freed up on shorter putts without the line and for longer putts (10-25 feet) my make rate has increased. Feels like without the line it forces me to focus more on the break of the putt as opposed to my stroke.

Yes just for putting , a cross through the prov logo. Gives me my intended line and keeps the putter square to that line.

I find the center of rotation on each golf ball using centrifugal force and mark the spots on opposite sides of the ball where the axis meets the surface with a red dot. I draw a line around the circumference of the ball perpendicular to the axis. When this line is aimed at the target on the tee or green and the club face strikes this line the ball should rotate around the center of rotation. This reduces off center forces that could cause the ball to curve in flight or roll off line on the green. That is why I use an alignment aid. It would be helpful if Titleist balls came marked in such a way.

I do not draw on my ball, I use the Prov1x line off the box and on the green. Gives me the point of reference that I like.

I but a red dot over the number and a red line next to the black , helps me line my putts better, I stopped looking up until the ball is in the hole , best tip I have ever gotten ,

I add a dot blue dot at the end of the prov1x marking which I use to focus.

I do not use an alignment aid. I tried it years ago and did not have any better results so now I do not even try.

I always play Titleist Tour Soft and use the "T" on the ball to align my putting path.

Didn't like the alignment stamp on the Tour Soft when it when it first came out but now I use it with almost every putt. Hoping it does not go away. Realize an alignment assist is not for everyone but I like it.

I use the line on the AVX both for hitting it off the tee and on the putting green. With the line when putting and across the line off the tee. Helps me keep the face of the driver square.

Just use an alignment aid when putting. Used to mark my balas with a sharpie, but just use the line on the ball now.

I use the side stamp on the titlest Trufeel only on putts 12 feet or less. All other putts are just a hope and prayer

When I finally am able to line the the ball up to my target (usually takes multiple tries) and then stand over the ball it never looks correct which causes doubt. NOT GOOD. I am more of a feel putter and the line makes my stroke feel too mechanical. I do have a couple of balls with lines that I use when I first go to the practice green. I don't aim at a target but rather watch to see that the line stays straight as it rolls, which tell me I am making a good stroke. If the line wobbles it tells me my stroke is off.

I have always used a solid green line on my ball for putting alignment. After being fit for a putter I think it's really valuable. If I see the green line rolling straight but miss the putt, I know the issue is with the line I've chosen, not my putting stroke.

I do use the stamp on the ball for alignment. It is very useful to me especially on putts that break a lot. Now if someone could make a ball that would tell me the exact speed with which to hit a putt, that would be the ultimate!!

I use the standard —Pro V1— to line up every putt. Like some others, I like a clean undistracting golf ball.
