  1. Hey guys, I'm looking to get a scoring app. A little oldschool still and write everything down and them come home and put it through excel which is getting a little old.

What do you use and why?

Bounce between 18 Birdies and the GHIN app. Just use the free one but it gets me the basics fairways, greens putts penalties, etc.. The GPS helps when you can't see the green with the range finder or can't find a sprinkler nearby. I also write everything down just because I'm old and still like to have a hard copy to look at LOL.

Am even older school. I only use GHIN handicap system. Do not worry too much about stats. Just like to play and have fun. At 76, take it one day at a time. As much as I play I pretty much know how badly I play and what I need to work on. Short game.
  4. We all get wrapped up on numbers and I think we sometimes forget that we play this game because we love it. Have fun no matter what our score is, just enjoy the day on the course

I primarily use the GHIN app and dabble with the SWING U app. I'm not that old school but really only worry about keeping track of my total putts and fairways hit. Works fine for me since I've tried them all.

GHIN for me as well. We have to use it for our MGA events for accurate HCI keeping.

I use different ones. For group play, I use the USGA GHIN app; if my playing partners have a valid GHIN, I can easily lookup their hdcp and add them to the game or match.

For more details of my game/round, I like using the Arccos system. The system tracks my shots during the round and also in the end of my round, I have it connected with my GHIN and all the scoring is automatically uploaded to the GHIN site.

18Birdies, mainly to keep score. For GPS I wear a golf watch, and have a range finder on hand too.

I use my Garmin watch to keep score and stats. It then auto downloads following each round into the Garmin app from which I can export as I see fit.

I also use my Garmin fenix watch and the Garmin golf app for my driving and putting stats. Seems to work pretty well.
  18. I use Golfpad. There is a free version and a paid version. I use the paid version. It tracks all the stats you will require. Including: strokes gained, clubs, fairways, par 3,4,5 scoring. It also shows elevations for each hole, as well as an overhead view so you can see where traps are and what is guarding the greens. Also interfaces with samsung or apple watches. I basically turn on the app, sync with my watch and keep track of everything with my watch, unless I'm playing an unfamiliar course. then i will use my phone to look at the holes.

Also keeps track of you handicap, but i also have a GHIN as well.

    Well worth it for me.!

    Enjoy

I use the GHIN app for the ease of getting handicaps of other people that I may be playing with that day.

Shot Scope V3 is what i use to track my stats.
  20. I use the Grint app. It’s kinda fun because my golf friends live 3 hours away and when someone starts a round you can follow their score as they’re playing on the app.

18 Birdies (free version) is really great. I've tried a few others, and I keep going back to 18 Birdies.

I use 18 Birdies. All my friends are on there and its easy for all of us when we play together.
  23. 18Birdies for the social part, got a large group of ppl we all use it. Also use it for hosting virtual tournaments. And Arccos for detailed stats but probably not going to renew membership.

I'm old school too (I guess) lol. I write it all down, but after the round I input it to greenskeeper.org! Keeps track of it all, plus you can add sand saves, how many putts, GIR, FIR & more. All for free.
