What's your travel bag setup? (Bag/case/combo)

    I am on vacation and brought my clubs to Hawaii with me. Got me thinking about what other people use as a setup. I use an SKB travel deluxe hard case. For my bag I use a Japanese titleist cbs56 bag. Its compact and holds the basic essentials. Also has the 5-way top that I always prefer. I know some people do the soft case, but the airline I take doesn't offer any insurance on club damage unless it was in a hard case. What's your travel bag setup?

    Most here will respond with Club Glove with Stiff-Arm! Very reliable and packable once at destination.

    I use a Club Glove with stiff arm...I also take a towel and wrap it around my irons to add a little more protection.

    You can order a lightweight bag thru you local authorized Titleist dealer and have the TT logo and your name put on your bag for an additional fee. Mine was done aftermarket by a local shop I have done business with for years. I bought the bag thru our proshop and then decided a few months later I wanted my name on it.

    As well, use the Club Glove with the optional Stiff-Arm. Some will remove metal wood heads and carry those in a carry-on. I've always, knocking on lots of wood, ever had a golf bag delayed or damaged, using Delta. The pro trying to qualify for the US Open and Open needs to consider commercial carriers specializing in golf bags. The same airline misplaced his to both qualifying sites.

    And if you have an expensive Scotty C. putter, simply turn it upside down in the golf bag.. Never had any issues, trust me, folding up a Club Glove in your room and stowing it is so much easier and convenient =!

    I'm with chuck on this one. As promised, here are pictures of my setup. Picture of my ultra compact carry bag, picture from the top showing the club layout, picture without the woods and putter so you can see the slots, and finally a picture of my bag in my SKB.

    For those of you that just club glove, do your airlines cover any damage with it being a soft case?
    I know mine explicitly says it doesn't. Additionally, with the SKB, it's got an unlimited lifetime warranty that will cover up to $1500 in club replacement. The hard case also has room for shoes and some other golf accessories.

    Eventually I wanted to get a titleist lightweight singlestrap stand bag. Just nothing wrong with my current bag right now, so I want to spend more money playing instead of buying gear. Lol. I'll look for a bag in the off season if I need to.

    Most, if not all airline will not accept responsibility for damage with a soft-sided case.. That's what travel and credit card insurance is for.. Ive never had any issues with mine because I pack it well..

    That's true. But why file a claim on your insurance when the airline will be filing the claim on their insurance? Why not save your insurance for things like if your clubs fell off your cart and got damaged. Btw, you'll want to check your credit card if it really includes sports gear and to what extent. Not even your own credit card insurance actually cover a full set of golf clubs. With the skb, it's their guarantee, not mine. In addition to that, the airline would be covering on top of it.

    To each their own. No big deal.

    I've removed the heads, wrapped them in towels, and place in the big pouch of the bag. Obviously for protection, and not for theft. I also put on a plain black headcover on my Scotty...assuming an thief would not take the time to remove the headcover. And a dirty towel to throw off the scent. So far, so good.

    I use a Club Glove soft bag. Thought of taking off my club heads but I don't have a tool for that. I used a stiff arm and wrapped a towel around the longer clubs. Bought iron covers and they packed everything nicely, not a sound when carrying them around the airport. Which is good because the clubs were not moving around. Arrived in Mexico safely, and back from Mexico with no damage at all. They did open my back coming back into the US of A.

    Club Glove with a Stiff Arm, but I use a towel to wrap around my irons. Another tested trick: save the large air bags from your mail order boxes and stuff them in the travel bag to better protect the shafts. Ever since I had my shoe bag stolen from my travel bag, I use a zip tie to tie the shoe bag to my golf bag-- no problems since I started doing that.

    SKB hard case and a Jones stand bag. The SKB has been on 20 trips and I’ve never had an issue.

    I've used the Club Glove and stiff arm for countless trips for almost 10 years without issue. I've had everything from a Titleist lightweight to a Jones Sunday to my Stitch SL1 bag and all have fit/protected beautifully. Like others have said, the club glove stores easily and weights little while protecting a lot. I highly recommend it.

    I usually pack my rangefinder and speaker in my carryon, and then wrap my towel and rain gear around the clubs. I also put an inconspicuous cover on my Scotty. Knock on wood - I haven't had an issue.

    I do know a guy who bubble wrapped all his clubs, removed wood heads, and used iron covers in addition to said bubble wrap- I don't condone that level of panophobia what so ever, but I'm pretty sure you could have dropped his bag from 30,000' into the Grand Canyon without scratching an iron. Obviously his bag arrived unscathed, but it did take him a loooooooong time to unpack his disquiets.

    Wow! If you had helped him unwrap the bubble, he would've been done sooner no?

    I got rid of my hard sided case after the airlines said my bag was "odd shaped" , couldn't check in at a normal kiosk, and made me stand in line with the baby strollers.

    Got a Club Glove as a prize, bought a Bag Boy stiff arm, which is better made than CGs stiff arm. I remove my driver head, wrap it in a towel and put it in a bag pocket. I travel with a $50 TopFlight stand bag. Compact and practical. I also put my shoes and socks in the CG. Ready to rumble!

    In between these set ups, I used the Trav-a-Lot hard sided case. There is some preparation required, but, like their commercial showed, a baggage handler could jump on your bag without damaging anything. They went out of business. I still have two.

    Club Glove and a Stiff Arm. I also use the club glove iron covers when travelling - Keeps the heads from rattling around. I remove the heads of the Driver/FW and Hybrid but more for space so I can wrap everything else with the golf towel. Heads get packed in the golf bag. Only thing I self carry is rangefinder (but maybe now my new TS2 Driver head!).

    Not to mention if you have the Club Glove luggage system, its so much easier to get your load around the airport and to/from hotel!

    SKB case all the way. Fits a good size bag with room for a couple dozen balls and shoes. Have used soft cases before to my detriment.

    After research and talking to oher friends who have travel bags I bought a soft bag Club Bag. The hard case is too big to fit in any car I may use. The soft bag from Club moves very easily in the airport. I had to move it about 150 yards to get to customs and it was pretty easy. Most bags I saw were soft bags also. The high end soft bag looks beautiful and moves easy. Easy to carry around. Do not doubt my selection.
