Lived in Little River, SC in 2021-2023 and worked all over the Grand Strand as a pharmaceutical rep and the list given to you by @vwesley at the beginning of the thread is probably the most comprehensive and one I can wholeheartedly say you couldn’t go wrong with.

I’d add one caveat: the traffic getting down into Pawleys Island during that March/April timeframe can be a major frustration for golfers if you have earlier tee times. You could leave on time for your round and a pre-round warmup range sessions, but it takes 40 minutes to an an hour longer due to vacationers/snowbirds adding to the already congested “rush hour” traffic. If you’re staying near Myrtlewood, you’ll have plenty of GREAT golf north of you.

With that being said, it is such a shame to come to the Grand Strand and NOT play True Blue or Caledonia. They are Mike Stranz gems and unforgettable in so many ways.

Either way, sounds like an incredible trip, and I hope you have a great time!

Thanks so much. I'm intending to play at least one of those two if I can so thanks for the tip re travel time.
  3. Myrtlewood is a good location if you want to travel north and south to play different courses. You're going to run into a bit of trouble with wanting to keep the green fees under $100 during that time of year. Myrtle Beach gets a lot of traffic from golfers coming from the Masters that week, and it is peak season for the area.

That being said, I would definitely include one of the myrtlewood courses. They are both decent courses that should be under $100. They give some nice views of the intercostal waterway.

Arrowhead is another course that shouldn't break the bank even at that time of the. year.

Legends resort has some strong courses to consider. Their Moorland course is one of my favorites in that area. They can get a little pricey during that time of year, but their rounds usually include drink and lunch / breakfast vouchers that could help justify the cost a bit. Their courses are always in great shape, but expect a longer round here as they pack tee times across all 3 courses.

Kings North is a fun course, I haven't played it in a while, and they have underwent some renovations in the last year or so.

Pawley's Plantation is a great course that can be challenging if the wind is blowing through the marsh. It is probably going to pass the $100 green fee that time of year though.

Higher end courses that a lot have already mentioned:

Dunes Golf and Beach Club is the top course in Myrtle Beach. They play the PGA Tour Myrtle Beach Classic here in early May though, so I doubt they will take public tee times a month out from the tournament. It is around $300 that time of year.

Caledonia and True Blue towards the south end. I prefer Caledonia over True Blue, It has my favorite finishing hole with the clubhouse right behind the green, usually with several spectators watching and letting your know how good your approach shot is. Nothing wrong with True Blue, but it doesn't stand out to me as much as Caledonia does and I would spend the money that I would for True Blue elsewhere.

Grande Dunes has quickly become one of the courses that I play just about every time I go down to the beach. It can play very long and has some good views from the course.

TPC Myrtle is always in great condition and will be in that $150-$200 range that time of year. It is a challenging course and one that I play every couple trips down to the beach.

On the North End Tidewater and Thistle golf club are great courses. Tidewater plays out into the marsh, and provides a challenging layout. Thistle is up in Calabash, NC and is always in great shape.

I would skip the World Tour course, it isn't bad but there are better courses on the grand strand for the same price.

Unless you play the Dye course, I'd stay away from the other Barefoot courses too. Same as World Tour, I'd take that money and play one of the other mentioned courses.

    Thanks.
At the moment I'm thinking one of the Myrtlewood courses, World Tour (I hear you on quality but having just come from the Masters, playing their replica holes is really appealing), Caledonia and one other, maybe TPC or Thistle.
Trying to get a mix of value but decent courses and a couple of better ones.
Likely I'll never get to Myrtle again so I'm keen to see a little of the area.
