  1. I have played 2 rounds with the prototype. The distance and feel are the same as my prov1x. However, I did not get the usual spin inside 100 yards. The feel off the putter was very soft and it rolled true.

Having received my test sleeve of my favorite golf ball, I wisely waited until We arrived at Maggie Valley Country Club. I have played here for the past twenty years and love the challenge of this 18 hole layout. Flat and open for the first nine, and tight and challenging for the mountain back nine. The test balls emulated my usual Pro V in flight and playability. I found that the test set flew straight and putted straight and true on these country club greens. It is always a pleasure to test my game improvement upon each return to a course that has been a challenge for me over the years. Thanks Titleist for this opportunity and for proving again that Titleist is the number 1 ball and my game continues to improve over the 20+ years that I have been testing my game at this special course. Send more balls!
  3. First off, thanks for the opportunity to test the new balls! I tested the new Pro V1 and loved it. Has that same great feel around the greens and nice roll off the putter. Had my best day out of green side bunkers of the year, got up and down three of four times. Found them to launch higher off the driver, with a solid feel and more distance! Great ball.

Just lost the last 'Test' ball. I am a 10 handicap and I felt these balls gave me better control off the tee and the short game was comparable to the 'ProV1'. I used the test balls for at least 15 rounds of golf, alternating with other brands, I preferred the test balls.

Played the balls this weekend and I actually didn't like them compared to the Pro V1 I've played this season. They felt hard off the club face on full shots and didn't seem to hold as well on the greens. I played a number of shots with my existing ProV1's just as comparison and it typically proved out my feelings about the new balls. It was a little cooler weather (mid 50's) so balls don't always feel great in the cool air but I think I would stick with the existing ProV1.

All I can say is wow, tried the test ball with the red number. I have been in a slump lately, and today I shot an 80 with 3 birdies. Not great but the ball was a slump buster. I found the ball to have about the same driver distance as my PVx, but the irons were on spot with much higher trajectory than my normal ball. The unusual thing is that even with the higher trajectory I didn't lose any distance! The course I play has very hard greens and this ball really did do the one hop and stop. Loved it. Very fun taking part in the test.

I only wish I would have received these balls a bit earlier in the season. Too cold here in Wisconsin to get a good feel on the golf ball. Let's try this again next year say about the first of June or so.
  9. Had a chance to play them last week. Drives were good distance and seemed fairly straight. Had a little trouble stopping on the green but our greens are pretty hard right now. The ball just felt good when I hit as with all the Titleist balls. Very pleased.
    Thanks,

  10. Received test balls. I was much surprised at how I was able to spin the ball. I liked the feel off the driver and my distance was the same. Fun to use.

Received my prototypes late last week and was able to play with them on Sunday. I received the Pro V1 and it seemed to have a much better feel than the older version. Also it seemed to launch a littler higher and I thought it may even have a little more spin as well. Will definitely be putting the new version in my bag asap. Thanks Team Titleist for letting me be a part of this process and look forward to future opportunities!!

I received a sleeve of the Prototype Pro V1x, I always play the current Pro V1x so I was anxious to see if I would notice anything different. I say anxious because I love the current version of the ball and was hoped that any changes would benefit my game. I live in the Philadelphia area and so the weather is starting to get a little colder, but still warm enough to be a fair judge of the balls performance.

Aesthetically, the ball hasn't changed (the dimple pattern appears to be the same, with the same paint job) and it feels pretty much the same in your hand. When struck well with the driver the ball feels subtly softer to me (some folks mentioned it felt firmer in their reviews, so maybe I was expecting it to be harder and this was just a mental thing?). The flight seemed to be a little higher, but I did not notice any change in overall distance, which cold have been the temperature, as I would have actually expected my drives to be a touch shorter due to the temperature. I didn't perceive any difference in feel or flight with my long and mid iron shots. I do feel like this ball has a little more spin on short irons and wedges and especially on touch pitches and chips around the green. I noticed that some of my shots seemed to check up a little more than normal.

Overall I am very pleased with this ball, and mostly because I feel like the best ball for me hasn't changed dramatically and the subtle differences are welcomed and easy to adapt into my game.

    Hi,

I played with the test ball on Saturday, it was cold (50's) but a nice day for golf. To be honest the ball played similar to my playing ball the ProV1. It had great feel around the green and putted true, was able to hit high and low shots with ease. Overall I felt the ball performed well and had a softer feel to it. Mike
  14. I tested my sleeve of prototype Pro V's. I am a Pro V1 player and I really like the new ball. It was longer on the tee and I could spin it more around the green. The ball flight was fantastic as well. Hope this one makes to market.
  15. I received the Titleist Prototype "Test" balls earlier this week. I played them along with my traditional ProV1X and saw similar results. I do feel I gained an average of 10yards on the "Test" balls against the standard ProV1X. The "Test" balls also were soft and handled excellent around the greens. Very straight off the tee as well.

I received the "test" balls last week....thank you. I tested these balls both on the course and on my clubs Trackman. On the course I played 11 holes using my current ball (cally Chromesoft-b/c it is yellow and I struggle seeing white balls) and the "test" ball. On the course the test ball seemed to go a bit further off the tee than CS ball, by about 5-10 yards (not sure if that was roll or carry?). With my irons the test balls carry distance was less consistent than the CS ball by about 5-10 yards shorter mostly. Feel around the greens and putting both balls seemed similar. On the Trackman I used PW, 7i, 4h and driver...with the PW and 7i differences between test and CS ball were negligible, carry distance, heights, spin rates, etc. With the 4h and driver the test ball had slightly better height than CS ball, test ball also had a little less spin than the CS ball which lead to a more consistent carry with the 4h and an average of about 5 yards more in carry with the driver and b/c of less spin more roll out as well. I liked the ball, would love it in yellow.....will test the irons more "on course" next spring to better evaluate and see if carry continues to be less consistent as tested in the fall conditions now.
Thank you for the opportunity to test this product.....hope this helps.

I played my "TEST" balls this weekend. I noticed they seemed a little softer with my driver. The durability of the cover I liked. On a full wedge, I will have some cover remnants in my grooves. I did not see as much. They did not seem to spin quite as much though. I am attributing this to the more durable cover. Overall, I did like the ball. My sample did not say ProV1 or ProV1x. It only had TEST on it. I shot very well so, please sent me more! Thank you for allowing me to participate in the testing.

I received a sleeve of the black numbered proV1. I usually play the red proV1x. I found the ball a bit harder, although in was only 63 degrees out at the time of play. A bit higher ball flight with these. Around the greens I felt the ball did have a better feel. Plus I think off the putter was also a better feel.
  19. I first took a couple red test balls(guessing its a 1X prototype) and went to the chipping green and hit these along side last years prov 1x, prov 1, and cally chrome soft. Started with some short 15 yard chips and the ball had very similar action to last years prov 1x with the one hop check up and release a couple feet, it did seem to grab a little more then last years prov 1x and better then the prov 1 and cally. Next did some 30 yard shots with a close pin to see the hop and stop action and was impressed with this Test ball seemed to grab a little harder then last years ball but the cally seemed to hop and stop a little more.
I then hit some 80 and 100 yard shots and this is where the Test ball seemed to perform better then the rest with one hop and a dead stop. Then hit a 135yd par three and here the prov 1x Test ball had some good spin back about 3 to 4 ft, last years 1x was about 2-3ft, the prov 1 was spining back about 5 or 6 feet more consistently and the chrome softs were staying within a ft of the divots.
Off the Driver the Test ball and last years prov 1x were also very similar with the Test ball going a few yards farther more consistently and both always seemed to be farther then the prov 1 and the chrome soft.
The durability on the Prov 1, Prov 1X, Test ball were all very similar with my Cleveland CG15's leaving some scuffs on the 3quarter to full shots but nothing to take the ball out of play in my mind. The cally seemed to have a more durable cover on these shots.

I've played 2 rounds with the new v1x prototype. Great feel and similar distance. Seem to be able to work these a little better than the 2016 model. Thanks for letting me try these. Would like to test the v1's.
